A humane alternative to mental health treatment
The mainstream mental health system is unscientific. It is based on moral judgments about you and your problems, and its goal is to bring you into conformity with so-called "healthy" standards of living. However, there are no such authoritative standards.

Emotional distress and problem behaviors are not signs of illness or disease. They are natural, expected, and understandable reactions to the very real difficulties in living your life. With effort, those reactions can be managed to your benefit.
The mental health industry has unjustifiably grown over the decades and it has falsely identified quite common human problems in living as illnesses to be subjected to medical forms of assessment and care. But, there is no scientific evidence or line of critical reasoning that supports this approach. There are no chemical imbalances in the brain, genetic anomalies, or other physiological defects in the human body that account for the forms of human distress typically labeled "mental illnesses" or "mental disorders." For this reason, there is nothing to cure or medicate.
"Mental illness" is a myth - it is a metaphorical use of medical language to describe common human problems. But its figurative origin has long been forgotten and it is widely believed to be about literal illnesses by consumers, as well as by many mental health professionals.
There are very harmful consequences of this myth. One is that prescribed psychiatric chemicals can lead to reduced social functioning as well as dependency. Further, they don't correct anything wrong in you. They merely sedate (as with Celexa and Seroquel) or excite (as with Ritalin and Adderal) brain activity similar to how alcohol and cocaine do. And, as with alcohol and cocaine, stopping them abruptly can cause terrible and dangerous withdrawal symptoms.
